When there's no drop zone between the house and the canal, the tree leaves by air
Seventy-foot pines on 80-foot-wide lots, Australian pines over the dock, Norfolk Island pines over the pool cage — a crane lifts the sections over the roof to the street.
Cape Coral's lots were platted at 80 by 125 feet in the 1950s and the trees on them have had sixty years to outgrow that. A slash pine or an Australian pine on a canal lot now stands between a house on one side, a seawall and a dock on the other, a screened pool cage behind, and a neighbor eight feet off the property line. There's nowhere to lower a 600-pound trunk section safely, and dragging it across the lawn tears up the irrigation and the cage footings. A crane solves that: the climber cuts, the crane lifts each piece straight up and swings it over the roof to the truck at the street, and the only thing that touches the lot is the climber's boots.
Crane work costs more per hour but often less per job, because a tree that would take a four-person crew two days of rigging comes out in a morning. It's also safer for the house: nothing swings, nothing bounces off the cage, nothing goes in the canal. The crane needs a place to set up — usually the street or the driveway, with outrigger pads on the pavement — and a day with no lightning, which in a Lee County summer means a morning start.
What's included
Site survey first
We check the setup spot, the swing path, overhead lines and the LCEC drop, and the ground the outriggers will sit on.
Climber cuts, crane lifts
Sections sized to the crane's chart, rigged to the hook before the cut, lifted straight up and over the roof.
Nothing touches the lot
No logs dragged across the lawn, no pieces on the cage or the seawall, nothing in the water.
Street and driveway protected
Outrigger pads, mats on pavers, and the swing kept clear of neighbors' property.
Chipped at the street
Pieces go straight from the hook to the chipper or the truck.
One morning, usually
Most crane removals are done before the afternoon storms build.

Questions we get about crane tree removal
How do you decide crane versus rigging?
Drop zone and risk. If there is a strip of lawn we can lower sections to without threatening the cage, the seawall or the neighbor, we rig. If the tree is boxed in by structures on every side, or it's a storm-damaged tree already resting on the roof, the crane is safer and usually cheaper by the end of the day.
Will the crane damage my driveway or the street?
Outriggers sit on pads that spread the load, and we mat pavers. The crane sets up on the street or the driveway — never on the lawn over irrigation and never near the seawall.
Can a crane reach a tree at the back of a canal lot?
Usually. A 125-foot-deep lot is within reach of a mid-size crane set up at the street, and the pieces come over the roof. Very deep or oddly shaped lots sometimes need a larger crane or a two-stage lift; the site survey tells us which.
Do you need the neighbors' permission?
Only if the swing path crosses their property, and we ask before the day. Most lifts stay over your lot and the street.
What about lightning?
The Cape Coral metro ranks third in the country for lightning. Crane work starts early and stops when storms build; a half-day job that gets rained out is rescheduled, not rushed.
