Tree service for Punta Gorda and Burnt Store — the city two hurricanes rebuilt, twenty minutes up Burnt Store Road
Charley made its second landfall here in 2004 at 150 mph and Ian did it again in 2022 at 145. Punta Gorda Isles, Burnt Store Marina and the historic district have the trees that were replanted after the first storm and survived the second.
Burnt Store Road runs straight north out of the Cape into Charlotte County, past Burnt Store Lakes and Burnt Store Marina on Charlotte Harbor, to Punta Gorda — the county seat, population about 20,000, on the south bank of the Peace River where it opens into the harbor. It's a canal city like the Cape, platted in the 1950s and 60s as Punta Gorda Isles with seawalls, Gulf-access canals and the same 80-foot lots, plus a tin-roofed historic district downtown and the newer communities along Burnt Store Road. Charley's eye came up Charlotte Harbor and crossed Punta Gorda on August 13, 2004 as a 150-mph Category 4, gusting to 112 at the airport, and took out most of the mature trees in the city; Ian made its second landfall at Punta Gorda on September 28, 2022 at 145 mph and did it to the replacements. What's standing now has been through both.
The work is canal-lot work like the Cape's — royals, coconuts and queens to clean, Australian pines along the harbor to remove, live oaks and mahoganies in the historic district to preserve, and crane removals when a pine stands between a house and a seawall — under Charlotte County and City of Punta Gorda rules rather than Lee's. Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Marina also have their own association landscape standards. We're twenty minutes up Burnt Store Road and we're there every week.

Questions from Punta Gorda & Burnt Store homeowners
Do you really cover Punta Gorda from Cape Coral?
Yes. Burnt Store Road puts Punta Gorda twenty to twenty-five minutes from the north Cape, which is closer than the south end of our own city. Crews and the crane come up the same road.
Are the trees here still damaged from Ian?
Many are. Trees that stood through a 145-mph landfall often have cracked unions, lifted root plates and interior decay that doesn't show for a year or two. Before the season we check the big oaks, mahoganies and pines for exactly that.
Do I need a permit in Punta Gorda?
The City of Punta Gorda and Charlotte County have their own tree provisions, and Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Marina have association rules on top. We confirm what applies to your parcel before we cut; an arborist-documented hazard tree on a residential lot is exempt under F.S. 163.045 either way.
How much to clean the coconuts and royals on a PGI canal lot?
$100–$300 per coconut, $150–$400 per royal by lift, less for several on one visit. Best done in May before the season.
